Vera Jacquelyn's Story

My husband of 33 years, Jerry and I were in Sandy UT waiting for a heart transplant. We have been here since 12/08. We actually live outside of Idaho City, ID in an area called Star Ranch, 3 miles from Placerville, ID. I relax by crocheting and the internet. I have lived in Southern Ca. for 10 years. Then we moved to Meridian, ID for 13 years and now we have lived in the Boise Mountains for 16 years in a house my husband and I built. On Dec. 6, 2009 my husband received his new heart. He is still in the VA Hospital Salt Lake City, UT. He may come home Dec. 17 We will have to stay here for 4-6 months until the Dr,'s get his new anti-rejection meds working correctly for him. We haven't been home for a year. This year we celebrated the arrival of 1 Grandson in May & 2 Great Grand sons, July and November 8/2009 My youngest daughter brought her new son and almost 3 year old daughter to visit us 3 times this summer. She came to visit her Dad in the hospital in Feb. and this week minus the babies. 5/2009 Our oldest son who has lived in New Orleans, LA for 3 years got married this summer here in Salt Lake City. Jerry was in the hospital and could not go Boise so they came here, but the Dr would not let Jerry leave the hospital for the wedding. They live in New Orleans and The youngest daughter moved from Los Angeles to New Orleans in September for her husbands work. On March 29, 2010 my husband Jerry moved from Sandy, UT back to our home in Star Ranch, 14 miles west of Idaho City after his heart transplant. He is doing very well now. is promoting her son to middle child as of November 5 this year. What a great way to tell us she is pregnant! It has been snowing here at home since we arrived on Monday. I'm waiting impatiently for warm spring weather. Apparently it will be a while before that happens. On August 1 my husband got ill and went to the VA hospital in Boise. The could not do anything for him and they life-flighted him to Salt lake City where he passed away in August 7, 2010. Complications from heart failure. I no longer live in the mountains. I moved to Meridian, ID in Dec. 2010. I live in a one bedroom house that used to be our rental. My youngest son and his nephew live in our house in Star Ranch. Sold the mountain house. I have not lived alone since I was 19 years old. No cat or dog yet, just me. it is pretty lonely but I am trying to survive. My husband was my best friend and I miss him very much.
